These are my favorite boots. I have had several pairs over the course of many years. These are my “go to” shoes from about late September until about late April (I live in Michigan, weather is extremely variable) & for hiking park trails with the dog in the summer. These keep my feet dry in the rain (& even when I have accidentally stepped into a puddle that was deeper than I thought) & warm if there is day of snow & I am out & about. I love that they are not “bulky” or heavy. These are sturdy & comfortable (I am a nurse who works 14-16 hrs on my feet, I am super picky about comfortable shoes of any style) I also have a pair of their knee high hiking boots if we truly have a snow storm or I am walking the dog thru deep snow & those are TOASTY warm. I usually replace my boots b/c i wear them EVERYWHERE & they start to look really grubby after about 3-4 yrs of daily use, but structurally they have remained intact. I feel like I need more arch support over time & after about 3-4 yrs of daily use for close to 6-8 months I have broken them in very well. (That doesn’t mean they “need” to be broken in to feel great But shoes/boots do “loosen” over time). I have only ever had one pair have one side lace “hook” break (& it did not impact the use of the boot overall) I appreciate the aggressive tread. No one wants to be slipping while hiking, walking the dog or in several inches of snow. As for size I have always bought my standard size, that said I have a small foot (size 7) a high arch & a taller instep. I wear ordinary cotton ankle socks every day. If your feet are slightly wider or if your foot is flatter & you want thick heavy wool socks you may need to size up for comfort. Sorry for the long post…
