Gelert Women's Horizon Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Lightweight & Comfortable for Outdoor Adventures, Trail Walking, and Camping

Bought these for my wife as she had already had a pair that were handed on to her used which were a comfortable fit but wore through at the heal after a few months. We had assumed that they had already had a lot of usage by their previous owner and that they had worn through after a reasonable amount of use, and as they were comfortable we decided to buy a new pair thinking that we should get at least a year of use out of them.However, after only a couple of months the new ones have worn through at the heal, that is, the sole of the boot has gone completely through to the insole making the boots just about useless.My wife does do a lot of walking, but these are supposed to be a walking boot and so should have lasted a decent amount of time.They are comfortable but don't expect to get more than about 20 miles or so out of them before they need replacing.Bought one pair that I thought were great, really comfy and looked good. I started getting wet feet after a little while and noticed a split in the bottom rubber side of the sole. I thought I'd been unlucky so bought another pair as they are cheap. After only 6weeks light wear I am getting wet feet again! There are no holes that I can see and I'm massively disappointed that I have wasted my money. Do not buy these! Invest in a better brand. They are not waterproof at all. Having said this, if you live in the desert then yes they are a lovely fit and very comfortable for long walks.Terrible customer service no refund or replacement as over 30 days since purchase. Expect to by a new pair every 6 weeks. Disgusting.Wasn't waterproof which I knew from previous reviews, but I was really disappointed in these. I had them for 3 weeks - 1 month before taking them away on a trekking holiday. I have previously had brilliant Gellert items and people I know had brilliant boots so I didn't have second thoughts about wearing them in for three weeks then taking them on a three week holiday. Even considering low price, I thought this a reasonable expectation.On the first day of my holiday there was torrential rain so of course they leaked; on the second day the sole started falling away from the rest of the shoe. I was really disappointed and had to buy replacement shoes in Ethiopia, which is a less than ideal situation.Delivered yesterday as I stepped outside one of the lace support snapped. I’ve emailed for refund/replace and been told that this isn’t a fault and I am not eligible for a refund. This is both disgusting and against the law. I have had a product delivered and on the day of receiving reported a fault. It is impossible that this could be down to wear and tear and I wore them for all of ten steps and reported immediately. There are no helpful ways to contact customer support and I’m stuck as to what to do with a poor product and even poorer customer service.I bought these to replace an old pair, exactly the same make and size and was really pleased that they are indeed exactly the same! Except for one detail: they are now waterproof too! I accidentally found this out when walking on the beach at low tide and having to step through a “stream” of water which was too wide to jump. It was probably only about 5-10cm (2-4ins) deep, but that was enough to come over the body of the boots. I was resigned to walking home with slightly wet feet but no! Very pleased with these boots, which are in my opinion very good value for money!
